Hello,
Having invented, among other things, the "incontrovertible parking meter", may I now suggest a generalised technological solution to acceleration addiction, to wit, 'active speed restriction' signposting. This solution calls for a new Australian standard requiring vehicles to be fitted with an electronic governor - advantageously integrated with the car computer - controlled by radio signals that are emitted by said speed signs and which reduces the vehicle speed to the signposted limit. At the end of the speed restriction zone, another signal will release the system to accelerate up to the then permitted maximum speed...
Obviously, the principle can be extended to make Stop signs do exactly that -:)
