Das schlaegt der Farce den Boden aus...

You might probably wonder about the German (get it translated by G., witticism included) which slipped easily off my tongue during a second breakfast today while discussing a truly absurd situation:

We were discussing a bill for services from our original ISP, Internode, which I was disputing with the carrier.

A 'Node rep, Matt (10 out of 10!) had let it slip that I appeared still to have two telephone landline services with the company! Did I want to cancel them as well as the other services due to end at the end of this month? I risked losing the landline number, he warned...

Now, that line was cut over by Testra last Thursday (see separate post) and there was no way - I blithely thought - that Internode could still hold on to it.

Matt went out of his way to connect me to a Telstra support person, who advised that it indeed appeared the line was still in 'Node's name. I needed to request that Internode officially transfer the purported two lines to Telstra...

I went back to Internode with this information, and 'Jerome' told me it would be actioned A.S.A.P.

Speriamo!

The dual landline situation, I also found out, arose because Internode have on their system since the year dot, TWO addresses for Bianca and me, namely Lot 9 The Lakes Way, and 3491 The Lakes Way.

It is the same physical 50-acre block that we bought in the 1970s, and which we have since turned into a Conservation Area under the NSW Parks and Wildlife Service. So over 90 per cent of the block, only slightly despoiled by early loggers, remains a sort of 'national park'...

Cheers,
