The price of comfort is eternal maintenance

I don't mind repeating one of my more trenchant critiques of modern technology...

But it has hit home more than ever before recently when with every new gadget (i.e. essential to the modern lifestyle) we bought we had to find/make room for a new set of components.

Mostly, these are chargers. And batteries. And we must find/make room for these not only in storage, but also in operation!

Thus we've lately added:

# a Stihl battery and charger for a nifty little chainsaw (Bianca is already pestering me to 're-home' my original 41 AV - fat chance!)

# four (count 'em, I believe in redundancy so we have two with Telstra and two with Optus) mobiles and their respective chargers

# a 56V grass trimmer with charger and (heavy!) battery

# a Braun lithium battery shaver with USB charger and self-cleaning stand.

And today Bianca started asking about a suitable battery lawnmower so she can help me with the tedious and time-consuming task of keeping the orchard in top shape (thanks Honda for the neat old self-propelled petrol mower!)

I at once picked a German-built Ego 56V machine for only 700 Aussie shekels...

Don't worry, quoth she: I'll save up for it from my German super payment. That, I calculated quickly, will take her all of three-and-a-half months LOL

There's a redeeming thing about new emerging lifestyles: I just found a double powerpoint with two built-in USB connectors, one regular and one mini-C!

That means that for the mobiles and the shaver at least we can ditch all those cables and adapters and just use ONE for all and sundry...
